The Union School District provides resources committed to improving services for the District’s English learners. The English Language Learner Services Department promotes academic excellence, equity, and access to the content standards for the District’s English learners. The District has adopted a variety of California Department of Education approved instructional programs, to best meet the needs of its English Language Learners. The programs are designed to close the achievement gap between English learners and native English speaking students.

- provides information about a variety of topics related to English language learners, including demographic information for each state.

- provides a number of lesson plans for English-as-a-second-language students. Many teaching tips are also included.

- provides numerous recorded conversations for English language learners. Each listening exercise includes a short quiz that tests for comprehension and quiz script which allows students to read along while listening.

- provides activities and games in a variety of areas, such as spelling, vocabulary, grammar, and idioms.
