Maintenance and Operations Department is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all district facilities and grounds. The department includes the custodial staff, maintenance crews, and grounds workers.
The Custodial Team (20 Custodians: 2 per elementary, 3 per middle school and 2 supporting Extended Care) creates and maintains a clean, safe and healthy environment for students, staff and the wider community.
The Grounds Team (1 Lead and 4 Grounds Maintenance) maintains a clean, safe and attractive school environment focusing on grounds.
The Maintenance Team (5 Staff: 1 Lead, 3 Maintenance Specialist including 1 focused on irrigation) takes a preventative approach to maintaining the USD facilities and handles any deferred maintenance projects.

In accordance with the Civic Center Act, Union School District’s fields and school facilities are available for use by the public, to the extent that such use does not interfere with school activities or other school-related uses.
Through the use of Facilitron, the District’s online fields and school facilities request and rental system, prospective renters can submit reservation requests, view real-time availability, get estimated quotes and pay online.
Per California Public Contract Code 22032, any Public Works Project that is estimated to be $200,000 or less is subject to the Informal Bidding Procedures set forth by the State of California Uniform Construction Cost Accounting Commission. All trade categories are subject to Informal Bidding Procedures.
Contractors that are interested in being on the Informal Bidding Contractors List are required to have a current license and are subject to verification through the Contractors State License Board.
Additionally, pursuant to SB 854, no contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a bid or awarded a contract for a public works project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) per California Labor Code section 1725.5.
